Breast Augmentation
In breast augmentation surgery, breast size is restored or increased using silicone gel implants, saline implants or in some cases fat transfer. In breast augmentation, one of the most popular aesthetic surgery procedures, the satisfaction rate is quite high in women who want to improve, restore or evenly correct their appearance.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
If you believe that your breasts are too small for your body,
You feel uncomfortable when you wear swimwear, low-cut clothes or tight clothes that cling to your body,
If clothes that fit your hips make your breasts look bad,
If your breasts have shrunk or sagged after having children,
If your breasts have shrunk due to weight loss,
One of your breasts is noticeably smaller than the other,
If you are in good general health, have a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you are probably a good candidate for this procedure.
Is Breast Augmentation Safe?
It is important for women with breast implants to know that if they want to carry these implants for life, they must be replaced when necessary.
Silicone gel-filled implants have been studied for many years. However, after detailed and rigorous research and data collection, the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) has not found a link between silicone gel-filled implants and breast cancer, related tissue diseases or reproductive problems, and has therefore approved these implants for use in cosmetic breast surgery. In addition, the FDA authorized three companies to develop and market breast implants and collect information on their long-term safety and effectiveness.
Surgical techniques for breast augmentation and all breast implants are constantly being improved to increase the safety and reliability of the procedure. You can get the information you need to make a healthy decision from your plastic surgeon.
Immediately After Breast Augmentation Surgery
If you have had general anesthesia, you may feel light-headed when you wake up.
There will be a surgical drape over your chest and you will probably see drains coming from each breast.
There may be compression sleeves on your feet to help circulation.
You will feel uncomfortable, but the pain will be relieved with medication.
After a few hours of observation by hospital staff, you will be allowed to go home.
Before you are discharged by the hospital or surgical center, you will be shown how to take care of your incisions, told how often to change your bandages and how to empty your drainage tubes.
You may have some pain after the anesthesia wears off. If the pain is unbearable and does not go away, contact your doctor immediately. There will also be redness and swelling after the operation. In some cases, it may take weeks or months for the swelling to go down. Contact your doctor to find out if your complaints of pain, redness and swelling are normal or a sign of a problem.
How long will my results be permanent?
There is no change in the size of your breasts unless you become pregnant or gain or lose excessive weight. However, with the effect of gravity and aging, your breasts begin to loosen and sag over time.
For the most beautiful and healthy results, as well as for your safety, it is important to go to your plastic surgeon's office for check-ups at predetermined times and at any time you see a change. Do not hesitate to contact your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
