Botulinum Toxin (Botox)
In humans, dynamic lines are formed in the facial area after mimic movements (laughing, being surprised, getting angry, squinting, etc.). Over the years, with the repetition of these movements, these lines on the skin become more permanent and even turn into permanent wrinkles in the future. These wrinkles seen on the face are most commonly seen on the forehead, between the eyebrows, outer edges of the eyes and around the mouth.
Botulinum Toxin, i.e. Botox procedure, is a type of treatment that we apply to our patients who have dynamic lines and wrinkles in the facial area (skin) due to such mimic movements in order to save them from these problems.
Botulinum Toxin application is a procedure that can be performed on all patients who feel discomfort in the facial area. Skin wrinkles in the area where this treatment is performed are removed and the person's skin regains its former tension.
Botulinum Toxin is the name given to the nutrient toxin obtained from clostridium botulinum bacteria, which is available on the market as botox. It causes temporary relaxation in the muscles by preventing the release of a substance called acetylcholine secreted from the nerve endings in the area where it is applied in humans.
What is Botulinum Toxin (Botox)?
Botulinum Toxin, commonly known as Botox, is a purified protein-based substance obtained from clostridium bacteria in the laboratory environment that reduces muscle contractions in humans.
The first use of Botulinum Toxin in medicine dates back to the 1980s. In its first use, the target treatment area was strabismus in the eyes. In the 2000s, Botulinum Toxin was approved by the American Food and Drug Administration for use in reducing wrinkles.
It has been approved in more than 80 countries in the world and approved by the Ministry of Health in our country and is applied by aesthetic physicians for the solution of problems by millions of people every year.
Botulinum Toxin is currently the most commonly used treatment method in the field of non-surgical aesthetics in the world. Although this method is mostly used for non-surgical facial aesthetics, it is also used for the treatment of problems such as overactive bladder, excessive sweating, migraine, strabismus.
Which Areas Can Botulinum Toxin Treatment Be Applied?
Botulinum Toxin, i.e. Botox treatment, is used in the treatment of wrinkles that are not very deep in the skin. In deep wrinkles and breaks in the skin, filling application is preferred to fill under the fracture area. In simple words, Botox is used for moving wrinkles while fillers are used for fixed wrinkles.
Although the application areas and mechanisms of action of Botulinum Toxin (Botox) and Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are 180 degrees different from each other, they can often be used together in non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

Botox treatment is a procedure that should definitely be performed in a clinical environment and by a physician specialized in non-surgical aesthetics. As long as it is performed in expert hands, it is a short, painless, non-surgical aesthetic treatment with a high success rate.
Before Botulinum Toxin application, the area where the procedure will be performed is numbed with local anesthetic cream. In this way, the procedure is quite painless. Very thin needles and special techniques are injected into the muscle at multiple points. The Botox procedure takes only a few minutes.
What is the Duration of Effect of Botox Procedure?

The duration of the permanence of the effect of Botox application may vary from patient to patient. This period is 4 to 6 months on average.
It is possible to develop antibodies against Botulinum Toxin in the applied people, for this reason, it is the most appropriate to be performed at the right time intervals and to be followed up at periods determined by our specialist physicians.
